lace veil cathedral length mantilla veil

If you’ve had your eye on the Lucia veil, scroll below to see photos of Real Bride Michelle’s beautiful destination wedding in the Dominican Republic! What I love about Michelle’s bridal look is how her dress has a simple silhouette and the delicate lace from her dress compliments so perfectly with her cathedral length veil. Her style choices feel tropical, yet classic and elegant! As you know, our veils are created by Spanish artisans who take great care and pride in their work. It is my hope that all veils will serve as a family heirloom for all future brides in your family which is why I am thrilled that Michelle’s sister will also be wearing the same veil for her big day!

Below is Michelle’s recap of her wedding day:

“Carlos and I had an intimate family wedding of 65 people. Our family is everything to us and we are grounded in our faith. We had a beautiful Roman Catholic Ceremony in a small coral stoned chapel overlooking the Chavon River, La Romana - Dominican Republic. The mantilla was special to me because it is the traditional hair piece used by Catholic Latin women to attend Mass. Although less popular today, I felt it went well with my lace dress and it was a nod to a tradition and the past. The veil played such a special part in the ceremony and feel of the wedding, my sister will wear it again, as her something borrowed, for her wedding this year.

I am from the Dominican Republic and my husband is from Puerto Rico, we are both New Yorkers who live a busy, at times stressful life. We decided to embrace our roots and have a Latin wedding. The food, the band/music and even the Spanish Mass was all true to our heritage and it was in honor of our families and our roots. We wanted everyone to have a memorable and authentic experience. The wedding day theme was rooted in love, family and God. It created a romantic and natural setting. The celebration was outdoors and embraced the Caribbean weather. Our wedding was held at Altos de Chavon in La Romana, Dominican Republic on October 14, 2017.”
