In this Real Bride post, Allyson shares the details of why St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Des Moines was the obvious choice for her wedding ceremony and why a mantilla was the perfect style veil to complete her bridal look.

Why We Chose Our Wedding Venue:
I chose my wedding venue (St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Des Moines) because that's the second date my husband and I went on! We continued to go to mass there every Sunday. It is a beautiful church and it also was very special to us. We chose our reception venue (Iowa Taproom) because it checked all of our boxes: could fit the number of people we wanted, was within budget, was beautiful (had lots of exposed brick!!) and since it was a restaurant, they handled the food and alcohol. It decreased the number of vendors we had to work with so really everything fell into place!
Why I Chose a Mantilla Veil:
I chose a mantilla style veil because I love the traditional look of it. I love lace so I knew I wanted to include lace on my veil. I think the mantilla veil is so timeless and classy. Regardless of the length, it frames your face so naturally and really highlights your beauty. I wanted to look back on wedding photos 20plus years from now and still think every piece of my ensemble was elegant and beautiful. Because of that, a mantilla veil was obvious choice!

I chose the Mantilla Company for many reasons. There were so many beautiful options that it made it hard to choose! I loved being able to order a sample before purchasing. Also, being able to customize the length was perfect for me. I knew I wanted a long veil but not too long that it covered up the train of my dress. I also had great customer service. Anytime I had a question, Gloria was quick to respond. I also was on a shorter timeline and I was assured and confident it would arrive to me on time.
My Advice for Future Brides:
My advice for brides to be is to really put the sacrament of the marriage ahead of planning the party afterwards. Of course the celebration post nuptials is always fun, but the important thing to remember is the ceremony is what makes the marriage official! Also, don’t forget to date your fiancé while in the thick of planning! It can be so overwhelming to plan a wedding that all of your conversations can revolve around it. Be sure to plan a few date nights that don’t involve wedding talk at all!
