After an Eastern European road trip, Croatia became the venue of choice for this real bride's beautiful destination wedding. Edeliz and hubby Nate love to travel and couldn’t think of a better way to honor their relationship than to have their close ones join them in Rovinj, Croatia. After looking through her jaw-dropping photos, I don't think it took too much convincing to get friends and family to travel abroad to witness their marriage! Below Edeliz describes her wedding and why she chose The Mantilla Company.
Why get married in Croatia:
We went on an Eastern European road trip 4 years ago with Nate's family. I really wanted to see multiple places in Croatia, but the only stop we were able to make in Croatia was Rovinj. We all fell in love with Rovinj. The town was definitely touristy, but still maintained its identity-- no tour buses, cruises, selfie sticks or fanny packs! I loved the sparkling, bright blue water of the Adriatic sea and the colorful buildings on a hill. The food was also to die for! When Nate and I were thinking about venues and locations, we knew that we wanted to do something different. We love traveling and we never were able to wrap our heads around the cost of a U.S. wedding in a standard hall. For us, spending money on traveling and experiences made sense. Rovinj was the first place that popped into our heads. It was a risky decision because Rovinj isn't the easiest place to get to, but we knew our guests were adventurous like us so we committed to it!
Why wear a mantilla veil:
Growing up Latina, I always saw these images (celebrity and religious figures) wearing long romantic veils. I also loved the mantilla veils Sevillean women wear during flamenco festivals. These images stuck in my head. I had no idea what I wanted my dress to look like, but from the very beginning I knew I wanted a cathedral length mantilla. I had not seen any brides wear mantilla veils (not sure why), but I knew I had to wear one. At times I was tempted by the dramatic look of a blusher, but I am so glad I stuck to my guns.
Why wear a veil from The Mantilla Company:
Honestly, The Mantilla company is the only place I found that sold mantilla veils at an a reasonable price! VERY few shops sold mantilla veils at all. With the wedding industry being the monstrosity that it is, it was SO refreshing to experience The Mantilla Company's transparency with prices, timing etc.
Bridal Advice:
Wear a veil! To me, a veil is the most bridal part of the look and completes the look. Have fun with a veil and go with The Mantilla Company!
